On Monday morning, a terrorist shooting south of Hevron resulted in the death of an Israeli woman and the serious injury of another person.
According to reports, the terrorists opened fire on an Israeli car near the settlement of Beit Chagai, south of Hevron, from a moving vehicle, killing a woman, 40, and critically hurting another man.
The male was transferred to Soroka Hospital in critical condition, while the woman was treated on the scene and pronounced dead. A mother of three from Efrat named Batsheva Nagari HyD was later revealed to be the deceased.
It appears that Batsheva and her 6-year-old daughter, who was unharmed in the event, took a lift together.
IDF troops have sealed off the gates to several surrounding Arab villages while they seek the attackers.
The IDF believes that the terrorist has arrived in Hevron. Searches for the terrorists are being carried out by the Duvdevan special forces unit and other elements.
In response to the tragedy, Michal Waldiger, deputy finance minister, said: “Unfortunately, we will continue to see attacks and injuries as long as terrorists are permitted to travel freely in the C Zone [which is under Israeli authority].
My prayers are for good news, and my thoughts are with the injured. I say to the administration, of which I am a part: Enough lawlessness at crossings and checkpoints! “
