Officials reported that a bridge under construction in northwest Missouri collapsed on Wednesday, killing one construction worker and injuring two others.
According to Clay County officials, workers poured concrete for the bridge’s deck when it collapsed.
The bridge crossed Carroll Creek in a rural location close to Kearney, about 27 miles (43 kilometers) northeast of Kansas City, where it was replacing an older bridge.
According to Clay County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sarah Boyd, the other two workers had just minor wounds and managed to escape the debris.
There were no quick updates regarding the collapse’s cause.
According to county transportation officials, the bridge is one of five closed and two being built.
