A suspect was apprehended after a gunshot that left ten people injured early on Tuesday in Denver, near where basketball supporters had gathered to celebrate the Nuggets’ first NBA championship.
About 2:30 in the morning, the shooting took place.
About 3 1/2 hours after the game, three of the injured remained in serious condition, according to a statement from the Denver Police Department.
One of the seven individuals who had injuries thought to be not life-threatening was the suspect, a guy.
The incident took place approximately a mile from Ball Arena, the site of Monday night’s Nuggets victory over the Miami Heat.
According to police spokesman Doug Schepman, the circumstances that led to the fight that culminated in the shooting are still being investigated.
It did take place where there was the biggest crowd of people enjoying that night.
Evidence markers and a taped-off perimeter surrounded the incident.
The shooting took place in an area where many people would have left bars after the game, he added, adding that a small throng was there at the time but had “diminished quite a bit at that point.”
Police were speaking with witnesses, and Schepman called the probe still in progress “extensive.”
