Twelve Syrian Jews from Brooklyn recently visited Damascus with the encouragement of the Assad regime, for dental treatment.
Sources said the Jews choose to visit Syrian since the dental treatment there is cheaper than in the US.
The Jews also clarified that their visit is purely medical and not political.
The group their visit is successful since they were warmly welcomed by Syrian locals.
“Everyone understood from the way we talked that we’re Syrian Jews, everyone remembered us. We went around to all the stores. They recognized us and said: ‘Welcome, this is your country,” one of the Jews who refused to be identified said.
