A 12-year-old boy is currently being held in police custody as cops suspect he shot a 13-year-old student at a California middle school Monday.
According to the police, the shooting occurred at Madison Park Academy, a school for sixth to 12th graders in East Oakland, around 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Officers responding to the reports of gunfire at the school found a 13-year-old boy with a gunshot wound and spotted the 12-year-old running away.

Seeing this happen, the cops caught up to the boy and quickly took him into custody. They also recovered the firearm used. The wounded student was rushed to an area hospital in stable condition.
Oakland Police Chief LeRonne Armstrong said at a press conference that “It saddens me to even think that a kid would bring a gun to school. No parent wants to send their kids to school in the day and then be called saying your kid’s been shot. It’s the worst thing that you can hear.”
