At least 16 people were killed when a large crane crashed at a highway construction site in western India, according to the nation’s National Disaster Response Force on Tuesday.
As rescuers searched for survivors close to the scene in Thane, a city west of Mumbai, television footage showed the fallen crane on the ground. At least three injured individuals were taken directly to the hospital.
According to the Press Trust of India, when building highway and high-speed rail bridges, the crane is utilized to place precast box girders.
