On Tuesday, Yishai Keinan, an 18-year-old Yeshiva student, drowned in a lagoon next to the Kinneret lake in Israel, in yet another unfortunate occurrence that happened in the latter days of the Bein Hazmanin season.

Keinan attended the Tiferet Levi yeshiva in Elad and was a resident of the Pisgat Zeev area of Jerusalem. He traveled to the lagoon with some companions, which is close to Maale Gamla and the entrance to the Golan Heights.

Yishai eventually lost communication with his friends and submerged. Hours later, divers from the Lehava unit and fire and rescue crews from Golan discovered Yishai’s body in the lagoon.

Ohad Ringer and Avi Elhiani, United Hatzalah volunteers, stated that “The youth drowned and was lost, according to his friend’s description. He was pronounced dead at the site after divers were successful in finding and recovering his body from the sea.

Exactly 18 years ago, on April 26, 5765, Yishai was born. He first attended the Tiferes Levi yeshiva ketana before moving on to the yeshiva gedolah last year, where he was one of the top students, studying Torah from 7:30 a.m. until the wee hours of the morning.

a great loss for the family, yeshiva, and the generation as a whole, according to friends. Due to his dedication and determination in studying the Torah and performing acts of worship for Hashem, he would have been, without a doubt, one of the more notable Talmidei Chachamim of his generation.

At 1:30 AM on Wednesday, Yishai z’l was carried to his final resting place on Har Hamenuchos. May God bless his memory.

Tragically, this latest incident marks Bein Hazmanim’s fifth tragedy in recent weeks. Rabbi Binyamin Praga, 44, passed away in a Jordan Valley stream two weeks ago from dehydration and exposure.

Baruch Abadi, 10, of Kiryat Sefer, perished in a pool not far from his house. David Turgeman, 4, perished in a hotel pool in Eilat, and R’ Yitzchak Ben-Shimol, 79, perished in the Kinneret in Tiberias.
