According to MTA authorities, more than 200 subway riders were evacuated when a L train partially derailed in Brooklyn.
In the event on Sunday night, nobody was wounded.
At 8:47 p.m., the Manhattan-bound train was leaving the Canarsie-Rockaway Parkway stop, the L line’s initial station, when a portion of it fell off.
The train “was crossing from one track to another when a single axle with two wheels left the track,” according to MTA spokesperson Tim Minton.
Because of this, it was dangerous for passengers to cross between the fourth and fifth cars of the train.
Eight passengers in the first four cars had to wait until another train arrived before they could walk off the first and board the second, which would carry them one stop to the E. 105th Street station.
About 200 straphangers in the back of the train stepped off the train and onto the platform.
The reason for the derailment is being looked into.
On the line, full service is anticipated to be restored by Monday morning.
