On Monday, 20,000 people gathered in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to pray for the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, which is currently under attack and at war with Hamas.
The event featured the Rebbe’s responses to war and conflict in Israel over the years and was planned in less than 24 hours by a collection of Jewish activists and organizations.
The importance of Torah, mitzvos, gatherings for kids, and joy during difficult times was emphasized by the Rebbe in a series of JEM movies. MC Chony Milecki served as the event’s unifying force, and singer Benny Friedman led moving Chasidishe niggunim in addition to joyful and lively ones.
Children recited the 12 Pesukim in accordance with the Rebbe’s instructions, while the throng chanted Tehillim together in sincere prayer.
As they moved through the crowd, volunteers handed out pennies for Tzedaka to kids.
After the program, the audience joined together in raucous dancing, breaking down all borders and, hopefully, making it to heaven to tear down all barriers through joy.
For their assistance in closing the streets for this event, we would especially like to thank Rabbi Chanina Sperlin of the CHJCC, the office of Mayor Eric Adams and Senior Advisor Joel Eisdorfer, Chief McEvoy of Brooklyn Borough South, Commending Officer of Community Affairs Inspector Richie Taylor, Inspector Joseph Hayward of the 71 Precinct, and Lieutenant Ira Jablonsky.
