Unveiling the updated Panamera models in August, Porsche revealed its range-topping Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid plug-in hybrid variant, showing off an incredible torque and a smashing horsepower.
This updated 2021 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is slated to reach showrooms in the coming spring and is the highest-end sedan from the much-loved Panamera range from the German luxury automaker. Sporting an output from its 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and electric motor combo registering at 689 horsepower and 642 pound-feet of torque, the car is an improvement of the 2020 model’s 680 hp and 626 lb-ft.
Like its fellow Panamera counterparts, the S E-Hybrid variations in sedan, Executive (extended wheelbase), and Sport Turismo (wagon) options. The sedan and Sport Turismo will be capable of sprinting to 60 miles per hour in 3.0 seconds, while the Exec will take 3.1 seconds. All three trims are 0.2 seconds faster to 60 than before, and a sprint to 124 mph takes 10.9 seconds while the car’s top speed is up four to 196 mph.
During the unveiling of the S E-Hybrid, the automaker also shared details of the updated 2021 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid which will house a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V-6 and receive a 134-hp electric motor. The 4 E-Hybrid with the Sport Chrono package is claimed to go from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, besting the previous version of the car by 0.2 seconds.
Coming back to the S E-Hybrid, the car’s battery capacity has also been increased to 17.9 kilowatt-hours (up from 14.1 kWh). Thanks to the bigger battery, along with recalibrated drive modes aimed at maximizing efficiency, the pure electric range should be higher than the 2020 model’s EPA-rated range of 14 miles. The Turbo S E-Hybrid is a bit different compared to other models, as far as the dual C-shaped Turbo front light housings paired with larger side air intakes are concerned. Three new 20- and 21-inch wheels and two new exterior colors are also available.
Set to be available next spring, order books are now open, but the pricing has not yet been announced as yet.
