Tourism officials said more than 74 million people visited the Orlando, Florida, region last year, falling just shy of pre-pandemic levels.

Tourist numbers were up by 25% from 2021 when central Florida was still recuperating from the negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which curtailed foreign travel and resulted in postponed conventions. 2020 saw a lengthy closure of the region’s theme parks due to the illness.

“This past year proved to be a key recovery timeframe for Orlando’s tourism industry, with a lot of pent-up demand from our top US and international markets,” said Casandra Matej, president, and CEO of Visit Orlando, the region’s tourism development group.

According to tourism experts, most of the nearly 69 million domestic tourists to the Orlando area were there for holidays, a market that has fully recovered. The number of business travelers was still below pre-pandemic levels.

According to Visit Orlando, there were 4.9 million foreign visitors, only approximately 75 percent of pre-pandemic levels. The United Kingdom and Canada were the two countries that sent the most tourists abroad.
