
In whispers, people pleaded with dispatchers to bring help while gunfire, sirens, and screaming could be heard in the background during the mass shooting this week inside an elementary school, according to 911 calls released by Nashville authorities on Thursday.
One caller informed the operator that she heard gunshots while hiding in the art room closet of The Covenant School. Just before 10:13 a.m., the recording began. Monday.
The caller reported, “It sounds like someone is shooting weapons.” She suddenly observed that the gunfire had stopped.
She was questioned by the operator about her whereabouts and informed that two other callers had reported hearing gunfire at the school.
The caller replied, “I guess so,” while children’s voices could be heard in the background.
The recording captures muffled thuds after the teacher claimed she heard additional gunshots.
The caller reported, “I’m hearing more shots.” Please move quickly.
The attack claimed the lives of three adults and three children under nine. According to the authorities, cops shot and killed the attacker.
