Early Sunday morning, five kids and two adults were killed in a car crash on an Illinois highway.
The Illinois State Police revealed the road accident occurred around 2 a.m. on Interstate 90 in McHenry County when an Acura TSX driving in the wrong lane struck the front of a full-size Chevrolet van.
McHenry County is located in northern Illinois, about 55 miles northwest of Chicago.
The collision caused the two vehicles to catch fire.
The local police identified the adult fatalities as Jennifer Fernandez, 22, driving the Acura, and Thomas Dobosz, 32, a passenger in the van.
The police said the driver of the van, 31-year-old Lauren Dobosz, was airlifted to a nearby hospital with “serious injuries.”
Moreover, the police said Thomas and Lauren Dobosz and the five children were all from Rolling Meadows, Ill., but have not confirmed whether they were related.
A deeper investigation into the deadly collision is now underway, including why the Acura drove the wrong way.
