Even though the majority of Californians adore their state, many are also thinking about relocating elsewhere.

According to a recent statewide poll, 70% of those polled reported extreme contentment in their current state of residence and praised California for its variety.

Four out of ten Californians, meanwhile, are considering leaving the state because they believe that living there is too expensive.

According to U.S. statistics from the census, California’s population has decreased for three straight years.

Dan Schnur, a communications professor at the University of Southern California and the University of California, Berkeley, who served as an advisor on the poll, said, “The state’s culture and diversity have proved to be a very powerful magnet to keep a lot of people here, even despite the affordability challenges.”

But it’s logical to assume that the allure of moving to a more affordable location is going to continue to grow as the cost of living continues to be a greater challenge.”

Strategies 360, a polling and research business, worked with the Los Angeles Times to conduct the California Community Poll.

The Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, and the Los Angeles Urban League are among the other local groups supporting the initiative.
