Teaming up with the NYPD in the search for an unidentified perp who attacked a 25-year-old Orthodox man in Brooklyn this past Thursday, the ADL has offered a reward worth $10,000 to anyone with information on the assaulter.
Punching the 25-year-old Hasidic man while throwing antisemitic slurs at him, the perpetrator of last Thursday’s attack is still at large. As it stands, the perpetrator fled the scene and has not been found. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force has been notified and police are continuing to investigate.
The incident took place on Thursday at around 8:00 pm in the area of Empire Boulevard and Albany Avenue, the NYPD stated. The suspect is described as a male with dark complexion, around 19 years old, five feet and 10 inches tall, and approximately 140 pounds.
After announcing a $10,000 reward or information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator, ADL’s New York-New Jersey regional director, Scott Richman said, “We are once again reeling in the wake of a possible antisemitic attack in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. These incidents have a profound impact on the entire community — causing trauma, fear, and substantial distress. We want all New Yorkers to know that these acts will not be tolerated or ignored,” he added. “We hope that this reward will bring about information that will lead to a swift arrest.”
The NYPD is asking the public to reach out with any information regarding Thursday’s incident via the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), the Crime Stoppers website, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
