According to officials, a Florida couple has been charged in connection with the death of their 18-month-old daughter, who passed away unattended in a hot car after they returned from a Fourth of July party.
Joel and Jazmine Rondon, both 33 years old, are charged with one felony count of aggravated child manslaughter.
Grady Judd, sheriff of Polk County, stated on Thursday that he believes the toddler’s “horrible, tragic death” was not an accident but rather the result of the couple’s carelessness due to their use of illegal narcotics and alcohol.
“That’s a disaster waiting to happen,” he declared. Here is yet another victim of drug misuse, a helpless infant who passed away.
According to the advocacy group Kids and Car Safety, the toddler was at least the tenth child to pass away this year after being left in a hot car, including five kids who died in Florida.
