
A truck struck a Stryker armored vehicle driven by a U.S. soldier on a highway in southern Germany, the U.S. military reported on Wednesday.
The mishap took place on Tuesday in the vicinity of Tirschenreuth in Bavaria, according to a statement from the U.S. Army Europe.
It claimed that the Stryker was struck by the civilian semi-truck as it merged onto the A93 freeway.
The 2nd Cavalry Regiment soldier was attended to by civilian medical personnel before being sent to a nearby hospital, where he was later declared dead.
The army reported that none of the other soldiers in the military vehicle were hurt. It additionally stated that it would withhold further information until notifying the next of kin.
