Liba Ahuva Schreiber, 37, was shot in the stomach by a terrorist as she waited by a bus stop close to King David’s Tomb while she and her family were touring Israel during Tisha B’Av. She was 26 weeks pregnant at the time.
Eight persons were injured in the incident, and badly injured Liba was sent to Shaare Tzedek Medical Center, where she gave birth to her baby Dovid prematurely.
Liba and her son Dovid were finally discharged from Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center today, the first night of Chanukah, four months after they were there. Liba exited the hospital for the first time cradling her child to the sight of placards and balloons set up by the medical personnel in celebration of her release.
“Blessed is He who did a miracle for us in this spot,” her husband, Chaim Schreiber, remarked. We are glad to spend Hanukkah back home with family after coming here after Tisha B’Av and departing on the holiday’s eve.
We thank the World’s Creator for saving our lives while they were in danger and for all of His marvels and wonders.
A special thank you to the caring doctors, nurses, and social workers who helped save my wife’s and the baby’s lives.
“I want to thank the MDA team for saving her life and promptly getting her out of there.
