After Omicron looks like the public needs to stay alert as a new COVID-10 variant dubbed as IHU with 46 mutations has been detected in France.
According to reports, health experts are now closely studying IHU which was first detected from a traveler who recently arrived in France from a three-day stay in Cameroon.
While IHU offers 46 mutations, health experts said the discovery is not yet a cause of alarm.
World Health Organization incident manager on COVID Abdi Mahamud said they are closely monitoring IHU at the moment just like what they did to Omicron before it became a global headache.
“That virus had a lot of chances to pick up,” Mahamud said.
Sources said IHU already manage to infect 12 people in Marseille, in southeastern France.
It was learned that the first carrier of IHU was fully vaccinated and had just returned from a three-day trip to Cameroon.
