As crimes at Subway stations rise up, it is often reported that perpetrators shove random straphangers onto the tracks in an attempt to risk their lives. In order to thwart these unexpected attacks, a TikTok by a 51-year-old straphanger from Brooklyn is what you need to see.

Going viral on TikTok for the super handy tip that might potentially save the lives of several NYC straphangers, a woman from the Bronx named Wanda Vela might just be here to save the day.

In the TikTok clip that she posted on Monday, Vela is heard saying, “People want to push people into trains, it’s bad out here – that ain’t gonna happen to me.”

The Tip? Well, in the now-viral video, she wrapped a bike lock around a pole on the platform and her midsection, securing it with a key. “I got my own chain and this is what I do – I wait for the train like this and if the train don’t come, I stay right here. Ain’t nobody pushing me,” she says.

With more than 2 Million views, numerous New yorkers have found Vela’s advice to be useful. So all you have to do for a safe transit is carry a bike lock with you at all times.
