The terrorist who carried out the gun incident in the Shimon Hatzadik area on Tuesday that left two Breslov chasidim injured was captured by Israeli special police forces and IDF soldiers.
On Tuesday morning, a 15-year-old Askar refugee camp inhabitant opened fire on the two guys at close range, but due to a gun jam, the terrorist was forced to flee the scene and supposedly go to his school.
Before being taken into custody by Israeli security authorities, the child also documented the attack on his Instagram account.
According to a statement from the IDF, the suspect admitted to being responsible for the shooting during his initial questioning by Shin Bet.
The arrest procedure did not result in any injuries. A homemade Carlo submachine gun used in the attack was discovered close by after it happened.
First responders attended to the two attack victims when they drove to the entrance of the Shimon Hatzadik community.
The two were taken to hospitals in the capital, where their conditions were reported to be stable and mild.
According to Moshe Yosef Hass, the son of one of the victims, the second victim and the victim’s 60-year-old father initially believed someone had thrown rocks at the car.
“He was puzzled by what had transpired. He believed they had thrown two stones at the automobile, but as they began to experience excruciating agony, they understood they had been shot, Menashe Hass told the Ynet news outlet. “My father is not one of those who engage in tense situations involving security. He has prayed at Shimon Hatzadik’s tomb every day for years.
The son pledged that his father would keep praying to the sacred place.
The victims were going to the mausoleum at Sheikh Jarrah for dawn prayers.
