A veteran executive of the Republican Jewish Committee, Fred Zeidman, has been harshly critical of Joe Biden. He is supporting Nikki Haley, a former UN ambassador, in her campaign to unseat him.
Therefore, it was unexpected when he praised a speech Biden gave this week before taking a flight to Israel. I promised myself that I wouldn’t say anything unfavorable about this man, Zeidman remarked to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. This is likely the most sincere, passionate address from a sitting American president that I have ever heard, in my opinion.
Zeidman was far from the only right-wing Jew that Biden was able to convert during the past two weeks.
The president has offered his unequivocal support for Israel’s battle against Hamas, which was initiated in retaliation for the terror organization’s horrific incursion on October 7. David Friedman, Donald Trump’s ambassador to Israel, said on X, a platform that was formerly known as Twitter, “While I have been and remain deeply critical of the Biden Administration, the moral, tactical, diplomatic, and military support that it has provided Israel over the past few days has been exceptional.” Biden’s favorability has increased in Israel, a country where Trump enjoyed popularity.
Four days after his election, a broadcaster on the right-wing channel Channel 14 in Israel contacted him immediately.
Shay Golden, the analyst, apologized for all the harsh things he had said and thought. “Truly, sincerely, thank you, Mr. President.” For those who have supported Biden for a while, his support for Israel should not come as a surprise. His love for the nation has been regularly proclaimed, and he has long-standing diplomatic relations there.
“He gets the DNA of Zionism,” says David Makovsky, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and former Obama administration employee who worked on Israeli-Palestinian peace.
“He merely picks up on Israel. He asserts that no Jew is secure without Israel, which is essentially what Zionism holds—that Jews without a state are powerless.
