Delta, now Omicron, what’s next? Should people worry? Will this ever end?

The Omicron variant is reportedly more contagious than the original and Delta Covid variants, but way less deadly.

Some scientists say this is a positive thing since people can now gain natural immunity without any major risk.

In addition, some scientists are saying that if you are vaccinated, it can’t necessarily protect you against getting the Omicron variant, but your symptoms are milder, and your hospitalization rate is way lower.

Even though the omicron variable has a much lower hospitalization and death rate than the original and delta variables, the government is still coming back with mandates.

Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statewide mandate requiring masks to be worn in all public places unless businesses have implemented a vaccine requirement.

This went into effect on December 13th and will remain in effect until January 15, 2022, when the state will reassess its effectiveness based on the infection rate.

In addition, De Blasio announced a first-in-the-nation vaccine mandate for the private sector: children ages 5-11 to receive one vaccine and everyone aged 12 and up to receive two doses by December 27th.

Where this will lead is hard to tell since Covid has ways of getting into our day-to-day lives.

Get vaccinated, mask up – this decision we will leave up to you! Stay safe!
