In the early hours of Wednesday, a shooting in Los Angeles claimed the life of a 40-year-old inhabitant of Ashkelon.

The inhabitant, identified as Amir Lahaziel, reportedly spent recent years living in the US with his son and his family but was formerly well-known in Ashkelon as a vehicle salesman.

His family is very close with Ashdod Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto.

He was shot dead at 2 a.m. in the area of his Beverly Hills home after speaking with an unidentified assailant.

The attacker ran away and is now at large.

Although the victim, a well-known and accomplished poker player, was allegedly involved in a quarrel over poker or other matters that have not yet been fully established by police, it is still unknown what the savage murder’s motivation was.

According to the story, the family had informed Israel’s foreign ministry about the murder, but local US police had not been contacted.

The ministry is attempting to learn more about the tragedy and free the dead man’s body so that it can be buried in Israel.
