Four people in the RV and the truck driver were killed in the collision, according to investigators, after a recreational vehicle with a flat tire on an interstate highway in Pennsylvania jumped the median and hit a tractor-trailer head-on.
The collision happened around 8:50 o’clock. State police reported an incident on Wednesday on Interstate 81 northbound close to Chambersburg in south-central Pennsylvania.
After the tire exploded, the RV, which was pulling a trailer and traveling south, crossed a grassy median and collided with the truck that was pulling two trailers simultaneously.
There were no further recorded injuries, and all four occupants of the RV and the truck driver were declared dead at the scene. Donald Molander, Kimberly Molander, Miranda Molander, and Dane Molander, all of Middletown, Pennsylvania, were among those killed in the RV.
James Shade, a truck driver from Martinsburg, West Virginia, was named.
Authorities closed the section of road for almost ten hours as they conducted their investigation, and lingering delays persisted into Thursday morning.
