Israeli police are currently in search of the perpetrators who left a frightening letter to the home of Rav Yehuda Cohen, Rosh Yeshiva of Yakirei Yerushalayim.
Suspected to be written by anti-vaxxers who are against the Rav’s stance on encouraging the community to get inoculated, the letter called the Rosh Yeshiva a “murderer”, and left him a vile death threat.
Placed on the Rabbi’s front door late Thursday, the Police have also discerned that the Hebrew letter was undoubtedly sent by anti-vaxxers. The translated text reads, “To the murderer Yehuda C, if you bring vaccines to children and bochurim, your end is near! You’ve been warned!” The letter is signed “Goalei Hadam.”

After hearing of the incident, Shas MK Aryeh Deri harshly condemned the perpetrators, telling B’Chadrei Charedim, “I have only disgust for this disgraceful act and terrible Chilul Hashem. I support the Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Yehuda Cohen shlit”a. Chas V’Shalom that these threats should ever come about. I call upon the authorities to capture the perpetrators quickly and punish them with the full severity of the law.”
But as it stands, this is not the first time the Rav has received such threats. According to a report in B’Chadrei Charedim, there have been multiple threats on the life of the Rosh Yeshiva over his support of Covid vaccines.
