After incorrectly asserting that there is widespread agreement that Israel is an apartheid state, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has come under fire from a Palestinian peace activist.
AOC stated in a tweet that “A broad consensus of UN experts, @amnestyusa, @hrw, and Israeli human rights organizations have all formally recognized Israel’s treatment of Palestinians as apartheid.
Bassem Eid, a longstanding advocate for Palestinian human rights, commented on AOC’s statement. I’m a Palestinian peace activist, @AOC, and you’re wrong, Eid tweeted in reply. Only those who want to spread antisemitism globally refer to Israel as an apartheid state.
This week, AOC and other divisive Democrats who support BDS fueled hostility by asserting that Israel is an apartheid and racist state. The House approved a pro-Israel resolution this week with a vote of 412-9-1.
The radical squad voted against it as a whole. An ex-senior field researcher for B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the (so-called) “Occupied” Territories, is a Palestinian named Eid. He established the Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group in Jerusalem in 1996.
Eid was named the Center for Near East Policy Research’s chairman in 2016.
