In addition to demonstrating Apple’s capacity to popularize cutting-edge technologies after others have failed, the company will likely unveil a long-rumored headset that will put its users in between the real and virtual worlds.
The highly anticipated announcement will be made Monday at Apple’s annual developers’ conference in a venue named after the late business co-founder Steve Jobs in Cupertino, California, ending years of speculation.
Additionally, Apple will probably use the event to showcase the most recent Mac computer, give a sneak peek at the upcoming iPhone operating system, and go through its AI plan.
But even though Apple hasn’t always been the first to try creating a given device, the company is expected to be the star of the show with a pair of goggles that may be called “Reality Pro,” according to media leaks.
If true, this would mark another significant development in Apple’s history of releasing game-changing technology.
Apple has a long history of innovations, beginning with a bow-tied Jobs selling the first Mac in 1984. This legacy was continued with the iPod in 2001, the iPhone in 2007, the iPad in 2010, the Apple Watch in 2014, and its AirPods in 2016.
However, with a price tag that could be in the $3,000 area, Apple’s new headgear might only receive an excellent reception from wealthy tech enthusiasts.
If the new gadget ends up being a niche item, Apple would be in the same predicament as other significant tech firms and startups that have attempted to sell headsets or glasses outfitted with technology that either thrusts people into artificial worlds or projects digital images with scenery and objects that are actually in front of them — a format known as “augmented reality.”
Apple’s goggles are likely to have a sleek style and the ability to switch between entirely virtual or augmented alternatives, a combination frequently referred to as “mixed reality,” or external reality, or XR for short.
