Officials in Kansas reported receiving over 100 envelopes with strange white powder that were addressed to politicians and other prominent figures.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation reports that no injuries have been recorded.
By late Friday afternoon, it had tallied more than 30 letters, and by Sunday, it had reached 100.
The agency stated in a Facebook post on Sunday that the substance’s first testing for common harmful chemicals came back negative.
Tom Day, director of Legislative Administrative Services, stated in emails to lawmakers that the Kansas Highway Patrol had alerted his office to the letters, which have a return address of either Kansas City or Topeka.
The emails were acquired by The Topeka Capital-Journal. Day said that the letters, which were mailed to lawmakers at their houses, had been sent to the KBI and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
