Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has called on Eric Adams to keep his COVID policies on standby since COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the five boroughs.

“But I’d say this as a friendly reminder: Keep those strong tools available. You may need them real soon,” de Blasio said.

Adams had earlier decided to stop the implementation of the school mask requirement and Key2NYC, which required proof of vaccination for indoor activities like dining, drinking, and fitness.

However, with the recent rise of COVID cases, health experts have called on Adams to reimpose the Key2NYC.

Meanwhile, Adams spokesman Fabien Levy said the mayor has not ruled out reintroducing the COVID-19 mandates.

“As the mayor has said, COVID is a formidable opponent, and we need to be willing to pivot and shift just like COVID pivots and shifts,” Levy said.
