One of the deadliest bus accidents in recent years in Morocco claimed at least 24 lives on Sunday in the province of Azilal, in the country’s center.
The accident occurred when a minibus carrying people flipped at a curve while traveling to the weekly market in the small town of Demnate, in central Morocco, according to local officials quoted by the country’s official news agency, MAP.
Rescue efforts were launched after authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Civil Protection moved to the location.
To ascertain what caused the mishap, an investigation has been launched. East of Casablanca, a bus tragedy in August of last year claimed the lives of 23 people.
Thirty-three people were killed in 2015 after a semi-trailer truck collided with a bus carrying a group of young athletes in southern Morocco.
