The Israeli family celebrates the 9th birthday of Hostage with a solidarity cry
Monday was Ohad Monder’s ninth birthday, and his family “celebrated” it by requesting that everyone hoist a balloon in support of the Israeli captives being held by terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
Ohad was abducted on October 7 while visiting his grandparents in Kibbutz Nir Oz. Ohad, who resides in Kfar Saba, is northeast of Tel Aviv. The uncle was killed in the attack, and the grandparents were also taken hostage.
Avi Zachary is Keren’s partner and the Israeli ambassador to the United States. Children and adults from all over the world can send birthday messages to Ohad through a digital greeting book that Michael Herzog designed for him.
They aim to receive one million greetings and pressure Hamas as a result of the increased public awareness.
In Bnei Brak, where Keren works as a teacher, the family hosted a birthday celebration at the Hamed Etzion special education school. Hapoel Beersheva, Ohad’s favorite soccer team, stood behind the young supporter.
The coach and players of the squad came together at the family’s request and wished the fan a happy birthday in the hopes that he would see it as soon as possible, according to the team.
We prayed and called for his quick return as we began our morning practice, too. We all hope that [Ohad] and his family return soon and without incident.
The military has thus far established that the Gazan terrorists kidnapped 222 people, according to Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari on Monday.
