The departing Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Aviv Kohavi, and the incoming Chief of General Staff, Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, visited the Western Wall to offer prayers.
Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the head rabbi of the IDF, Brig-Gen Rabbi Eyal Krim, and Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, also took part.
The chiefs of staff chanted passages from the Psalms, a prayer for the wellness of IDF soldiers, a prayer for the welfare of Israel as a nation, a prayer for captives, and a prayer for those who have been reported missing in action.
They then recited individual prayers and inserted notes between the Western Wall’s stones.
