An update on the investigation into the death of an Orthodox Jewish man who was killed last Sunday was provided by the North Miami Beach police on Wednesday.
Hershy Schwartz was discovered shot to death Sunday in the vicinity of his vehicle at Wendy’s parking lot on Northeast 167th Street close to Interstate 95.
Schwartz had been a resident of South Florida for almost 12 years, but he was originally from New York.
Schwartz was a prominent member of Chesed Shel Emes and actively involved in his Orthodox Jewish community in North Miami Beach and beyond.
Authorities stated that they are operating on the theory that Schwartz was killed during a botched robbery and that they have good leads that could lead to an arrest, but they gave no further information.
