Baruch Dayan HaEmes: Sadness, grief, and sorrow swept through Klal Yisrael with the tragic passing of The Sar Hatorah Hagoen Harav Reb Chaim Kanievsky Zecher Tzaddik Levracha.
Reb Chaim ZT”L was nifter about 3:30 PM Erev Shabbos, Shushan Purim after he collapsed and suffered a heart attack in his home in Bnei Brak.
Every year tens of thousands of yidden would come to the Gadol Hador Reb Chaim ZT”L for brachos, advice, guidance, and answers. He sat with a sefer open in front of him at all times dispensing brachos, chizuk and paskening to all yidden from all walks of life.
He was a pillar and a backbone for ganz Klal Yisrael with his guidance, and Torah learning.
Reb Chaim ZT”L was born in 1928 in Pinsk, Belarus. He was the son of the Steipeler Ga’on and the nephew of the Chazin Ish. His love and thirst of Torah is what made him the biggest gadol in our generation as he would learn almost 24 hours a day, and never waist a minute! His wife Bas Sheva who was the daughter of Rav Yoseph Shalom Elyashiv ZT”L enabled him to carry out his tafkud as she attributed everything to let him learn.
There are no words to describe the passing of such a holy person since he was considered the Daas Torah in this generation – for every yid from every background. Talmidei Chachumem would come to hear his daas Torah and pesukim. People from all over the world would come and bring their children just to see what a Gadol Hador looks like.

May his Daas Torah continue to lead us, and his hashpaos keep us strong until the coming of Moshiach במהרה בימינו אמן.
