Young charedi R’ Avrohom Moshe Rabinowitz died on Wednesday in a paragliding accident in the Swiss Alps.
He was from Manchester, England. The 30-year-old Rabinowitz was married and the father of a son, who was born only a few months earlier. He was the great-grandson of Rabbi Bezalel Simcha Rabinowicz, the head rabbi of the European Board of Torah Scholars and the Lugano Biala Rebbe.
The wedding of his sister is set for next week in Jerusalem. Tragically, this is not the family’s first tragedy; R’ Avrohom Moshe’s brother passed away from an asthma attack when he was six years old.
While on a family vacation in Switzerland, Rabinowitz went missing. His parachute was discovered by Swiss officials, and Hatzalah Switzerland helped in the Search for him. Later, his corpse was discovered.
The son of Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Dov Rabinowitz, the Biala rosh yeshiva, R’ Avrohom Moshe, was born in Israel. Rivka, his mother, is a descendant of the Kapitchnitzer Rebbe.
He married the daughter of Manchester Rabbi Yehuda Issler after completing his studies at the Jerusalem Kamenetz Yeshiva. He later made England his home. May God bless his memory.
