President of the United States, Joe Biden, praised the installation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new administration on Thursday.

In a statement by the White House, Biden said, “I look forward to working with Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has been my friend for decades, to confront the many problems jointly and possibilities facing Israel and the Middle East area, including threats from Iran.”

“The United States strives to foster a more economical, secure, and integrated region that benefits its citizens.

The statement said that Washington would “continue to support the two-state solution and oppose policies that endanger its viability or contradict our mutual interests and values.

We have worked with partners to promote this more hopeful vision of a peaceful region between Israelis and Palestinians.”

Inaugurating Israel’s 37th government earlier in the day marked the conclusion of several weeks-long political processes that began after Netanyahu’s right-religious party won the national election on November 1.

Netanyahu, who has been prime minister of Israel for the most extended period, assumes control for his sixth term in office after a year and a half away.
