Biden tells Herzog that American support for Israel is “Firm and Ironclad”

On Tuesday, Israeli President Isaac Herzog traveled to the White House to meet with American officials.

The first stop on the Israeli head of state’s official tour to Washington and New York was President Joe Biden.

Biden promised that Iran would never be permitted to obtain a nuclear weapon during remarks made in front of the public in the Oval Office. The president remarked that “America’s commitment to Israel is firm and ironclad.

“If there wasn’t an Israel, we’d have to make one,” I often say. Seventy-five years, it’s hard to believe,” Biden said to Herzog.

Herzog said, “There are some enemies who believe our unbreakable bond is being shaken by some differences.

“They wouldn’t think that way if they knew how our security cooperation has advanced and expanded in recent years.

As protests against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government’s attempt at judicial reform rocked the nation, he added that his “heart is in Israel” and stated as such.

“This demonstrates the strength of Israeli democracy. I think there’s always a need for unanimity,” Herzog said.

The Israeli president is scheduled to visit the White House twice as part of Herzog’s tour, which will come to a conclusion when he spends Shabbat in New York, as well as speak to a joint session of Congress later on Tuesday.

Herzog’s office announced in advance of the trip that it was intended to improve ties between the two nations, “which are placed above all controversy,” during his visits to Washington and New York.
