On Sunday, Dan Goldman was endorsed by Bobov community leadership in the first endorsement from an influential Orthodox group of candidates in the primary race for Congressional District 10.
In a statement, Rabbi Joel Rosenfeld, a Bobov community leader, said Goldman understands their needs and strongly supports the Orthodox Jewish community.
“With NY10 being a progressive-leaning district, all top-tier candidates have strong progressive stances,” Rosenfeld said.
But one of them stood out as someone our community could work with and benefit from once elected to Congress. “Dan Goldman, who has strong Orthodox Jewish family ties, understands our needs and is a strong supporter of the Orthodox Jewish community,” Rosenfeld added.
Goldman’s wife is a Modern Orthodox.
The newly redrawn district’s open House of Representatives seat includes Boro Park from below 14th Avenue.
According to reports, Goldman, a Democrat, rose to fame as the lead prosecutor for House Democrats in the first impeachment trial of then-President Donald Trump over allegations that Trump abused his power for personal gain in his dealings with Ukraine.
Goldman, 46, also previously served for 10 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York.
The primary is set for August 23.
Early voting has already started and will continue until August 21.
