The Association of Boyan Talmudei Torah announced a new clothing code for all the kids in the system in a letter to parents of kids in their cheder system.
With the new effort, parents can buy clothing for their kids from a particular business that will import shirts, jeans, and sweaters in a design suitable for chasidic kids. Children in the second grade and upwards will no longer be permitted to attend school wearing other forms of clothing as of the following academic year.
In a letter to parents of approximately 4000 Ken Yirbu students enrolled in the Boyan educational system, the group stated that “chasidim and men of courage were always particular about their clothes looking correct and decent.
“In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to find children’s clothing that is in keeping with chasidic tradition. As a result, people buy what is readily available, which often includes strange and unusual clothing that was not common in our circles a few years ago and is still unacceptable to parents who want to uphold a chasidic lifestyle.
Everyone in the Talmudei Torah agreed that the problem was the difficulty in finding appropriate chasidic clothing, which forces parents to compromise and buy what is offered in the stores due to a lack of alternatives.
This critical matter has reached the principals and teachers in the Talmudei Torah.
We are pleased to announce that, after carefully weighing our options and engaging in extensive negotiations, we have reached a deal with a reputable manufacturer to produce and import a variety of cute sweaters, pants, and shirts in all sizes and our distinctive style for the benefit of the Boyan Cheider children.
The letter further stated that all youngsters in the Talmudei Torah of the chasidus would be required to wear the same garments starting in the summer for the new year beginning in Elul 5783.
