Shomrim of Boro Park has called on residents to be always vigilant with regards to their valuables when someone visits them at home including government workers.

BP Shomrim made the appeal after they arrested a legitimate National Grid female employee for stealing a pocketbook on Tuesday.

According to reports, the employee visited one of the homes in BP in a routine and required inspections.

However, after the employee left the homeowner discovered that her pocketbook was missing.

The lady homeowner immediately called BP Shomrim for help.

Acting on the request, Shomrim phoned a high-ranking supervisor within National Grid and sent additional units to canvass the area in search of the inspector.

After a short search, they located the inspector and immediately notified NYPD who then arrested the suspected thief.

Upon her arrest, the inspector returned the stolen pocketbook to its rightful owner.

Shomrim alert: Due to a recent incident, we remind you to be extremely careful who you let into your home-always check to make sure the person requesting access has proper credentials. Even when they have ID etc, keep a watchful eye on them while they’re in your home. For emergency call our 24-hour hotline 718-871-6666
