On Monday, an Amtrak train crashed into a dump truck in Missouri, causing several of its cars to derail and leading to reports of injuries.

In a statement, Amtrak said the collision occurred at about 1:42 p.m. local time at a public crossing in Mendon city as the train traveled from Los Angeles to Chicago.

“There are approximately 243 passengers onboard with early reports of injuries,” Amtrak said in a statement.

“Local authorities are currently assisting customers, and we have deployed Amtrak resources to assist,” Amtrak added.

This is a developing story, we will post updates as soon as we receive them.
