On Thursday, President Joe Biden called on lawmakers to ban assault weapons, raise the age for gun purchases and expand background checks to address the series of mass shootings in America.
“For God’s sake, how much more carnage are we willing to accept?” Biden said in his White House address.
“How many more innocent American lives must be taken before we say enough?” Biden added.
Sources said it is not clear if the Senate will heed its call of Biden since they often rejected popular gun control measures over the last decade.
According to reports, the call of Biden is a big authoritative in response to criticism that he only focussed on his power limitations during his past media interviews.
“This time, it’s time for the Senate to do something,” Biden said.
“It’s about protecting children,” Biden added.
