A fire at a Brooklyn apartment on Sunday killed a 74-year-old woman.

In the initial investigation by the NYPD, the fast-moving fire hit a four-story building on Tompkins Ave. near Putnam Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant about 11:15 p.m. Saturday and quickly grew to three alarms.

Alert firefighters immediately responded to the scene and successfully controlled the fire at two in the morning the following.

After the fire was extinguished, the lifeless body of the elderly woman was discovered on the third floor of the apartment.

A deeper investigation of the fire incident is now underway.
