
Israeli police officers shot and wounded two residents of east Jerusalem after they attacked them when authorities chased them for acting suspiciously in the Mahane Yehuda market on Wednesday.
The local police said the two suspects ran when they approached them for acting suspiciously in the area.
The police added they tried to attack them prompting them to shoot them in the lower body.
Sources said one of the suspects was carrying a knife.
The Israeli police are now on high alert after 11 Israelis were killed in three terrorist attacks in one week in Beersheba, Hadera, and Bnei Brak.
