A male student has shot himself dead after he shot and injured four other students inside the oldest university in Germany on Monday.
According to reports, the shooter armed with a long gun opened fire in the lecture hall in the southwestern university town of Heidelberg.
The local police said after injuring four students, the shooter shot himself dead using the same gun he used in the shooting.
Sources said founded in 1386, Heidelberg is Germany’s oldest and one of Europe’s most reputable universities.
Heidelberg is located in southwestern Germany about 78 km south of Frankfurt.
Based on the initial police investigation, the shooting has nothing to do with religion or politics.
