The NYPD arrested in a follow-up operation a man who opened fire at a Bronx smoke shop early Tuesday, killing his intended target and wounding two bystanders, one critically.
The authorities arrested the suspect around 3:30 a.m. with the help of a surveillance video.
Multiple criminal charges are now being readied against the detained suspect.
Before his arrest, the suspect opened fire at Zubaidi #2 Grocery on E. Burnside Ave. near the Grand Concourse about 12:45 a.m.
The police said the suspect opened fire outside and inside the shop.
In that instance, the suspect killed his intended target, a 31-year-old man who suffered head and upper body wounds from the attack.
The suspect also wounded a man and a woman, both 34.
The woman who was hit in the upper body is in critical condition while the man, struck in the left arm, is stable.
Sources said the arrested suspect had been busted a dozen times, including assault, forgery, and robbery.
