A pre-dawn Chinatown building fire killed a 91-year-old woman and her son and injured four others Friday.
Sources said firefighters had a hard time stopping the fire in the cluttered fifth-floor apartment.
The woman’s son is a 52-year-old man who got trapped inside the six-story walk-up when the blaze at 78 Mulberry St. began shortly before 4 in the morning.
An FDNY official said two of those injured in the fire were firefighters.
The FDNY said they are still investigating the fire inside the building with 25 apartments.
Sources said one of the fatalities was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second died at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in lower Manhattan.
