A 7-year-old Arizona boy faces criminal charges after reportedly bringing two firearms and ammunition to school.
On Monday, Cochise County Sheriff’s deputies were summoned to Cochise Elementary School in Bowie after a second-grader was believed to be in possession of a weapon.
The boy’s rucksack included the weapons and ammo.
The boy’s parents were notified, and he was issued a “juvenile referral” for weapon misbehavior and being a minor in possession of a firearm.
“A gun and ammunition were discovered inside his backpack, and eventually a second weapon was discovered as well,” the sheriff’s office said.
