
On Wednesday, officials said the migrant death toll inside a truck in San Antonio, Texas, has risen to 53.
The number was originally 46 when the gristly death toll inside a truck was discovered on Monday.
Authorities have also charged two-person in connection to the shocking incident.
Juan Claudio D’Luna-Mendez and Juan Francisco D’Luna-Bilbao are facing counts of “possession of a weapon by an alien illegally in the United States.”
Based on court records, officers tracked the Texas registration plate of the semi-truck to a residence in San Antonio on Monday night.
A succeeding search of the home turned up multiple firearms in the bedrooms of both D’Luna-Bilbao and D’Luna-Mendez.
At this juncture, the two suspects were arrested during separate traffic stops.
The police revealed that D’Luna-Bilbao had a gun in the truck’s center console.
According to reports, a third man was also previously taken into custody.
